STILL LOOKING GOOD--VERY GOOD--IN IOWA

The latest Mason-Dixon poll in Iowa, via Real Clear Politics:

Republicans

Romney 25 (no trend available)

F. Thompson 17

Giuliani 15

Huckabee 7

McCain 6

Brownback 6

T. Thompson 2

Undecided 21

As I mentioned yesterday, this ought to throw some more cold water on the hoopla surrounding recent national polls. Look, Thompson is a strong candidate. We're going to hear a lot about his folksy manner, red pick-up truck and a whole host of other nice things about him in the coming weeks. I'm sure most of them will be true. Thompson seems like a decent, honorable, genuinely conservative guy. But when you compare his leadership experience with that of Gov. Romney (or, to be fair, Mayor Giuliani), it comes up short, doesn't it? What do you all think? Is Thompson's resume thick enough for him to be president in a time of war?
