ROMNEY TO THE RESCUE

Greg Pollowitz noticed a paragraph buried in an article about how the Republican National Committee has more funds to spend on November elections than the DNC. Apparently, the RNC will spend $60 million or more helping Republicans retain control of Congress, while Dems are scrambling to match it.

RNC Chair Ken Mehlman will empty the bank account to ensure GOP victories in the fall. But how can he afford to do such a thing? The article had this nugget of info:

Mehlman can afford to focus on congressional races this year because fundraising for gubernatorial contests has been largely segregated from the national party committees. The Republican Governors Association has raised $25.9 million for Election Day, according to Political Money Line, a nonpartisan organization that tracks fundraising. Its Democratic counterpart has raised $17.9 million.

He then goes on the note that Governor Romney is the head of the Republican Governor's Association. Add this to a long list of financially shrewd moves.
