RE: MONEY AND POLITICS
Steve, when I saw the title of your post, "Money and Politics," I assumed it would be about John Edwards, who recently lamented America's greed during an interview with BeliefNet. He said:
"I think that Jesus would be disappointed in our ignoring the plight of those around us who are suffering and our focus on our own selfish short-term needs," Edwards told the site. "I think he would be appalled, actually."
Does someone with a 29,000-square-foot mansion need to preach to us about selfishness? To be honest, I'm not oppossed to houses that size. (You never know when the NFL might want to hold the Superbowl in your backyard, after all.) I'm not even opposed to trying to buy a $700 Playstation 3 for your kid the day it comes out. But, for someone who preaches socialism, redistribution of wealth, and the alleviation of poverty, John Edwards' recent Jesus talk strikes me as a tad odd.
But maybe that's just my own personal opinion. And while I'm at it, let me confess...I don't like Peeps.
