PENNSYLVANIA PAPERS

As any of the three former Philly residents who blog here can attest, the Philadelphia Inquirer isn't good for much. Two of its best uses are (a) covering the bottom of birdcages and (b) repeating the consensus to which the rest of the MSM has already come. It's a little expensive for (a), though, so it's good that it does (b) today in proclaiming that the '08 presidential race is down to our guy and John McCain (who, incidentally, has formed an exploratory committee).

On the other side of the state, Pittsburgh has two legitimate newspapers, the Tribune-Review being the right-leaning one. Trib columnist Salena Zito says the GOP is "Looking for Mr. Gipper," whose job description reads something like this:

In search of The Gipper:

Must meet specific qualifications, such as the ability to campaign and govern on core principles like long-term tax reform, a strong modern defense, limited government and fiscal responsibility.

Only those who can say "no" when necessary, who have a spine when it comes to conservative, free-market principles and how those apply to voters, need apply.

Suffice it to say we've found just the guy!
