ON PENNSYLVANIANS
Nancy, my beloved sister...let's get this straight. You and David are former Pennsylvania residents. But nobody, especially anyone who has read your magnificent book, could ever confuse you for anything other than a Tennesseean. I am a Pennsylvanian, though expatriated to the Old Dominion State -- having grown up in Philadelphia, knowing where to get a real cheese steak, and being fully aware that the Civil War was indeed about slavery and we were the good guys.
Rick Santorum, of course, is also a Pennsylvanian. And if I may be so bold, it seems to me the chatter in the papers about him and 2012 is a bit overblown. I'll bet you a dozen Krispy Kremes he's going to Iowa to collect an honorarium and/or to have some fun, not to test the presidential waters. My sense is he's having a lot more fun making enough money to take care of his kids and being free to speak his mind than he ever did or could in elective office.
Just my $.02. And I couldn't let the idea of you and your sword-toting, drawl-talkin' husband being "Pennsylvanians" pass me by. ;-)
