NOT SECTARIAN, EH?

I've noticed that a few folks have taken issue with my claim that Governor Huckabee is running an "overtly sectarian campaign." They should listen to these words from Governor Huckabee himself:

In point of fact, there is some unfairness in that YouTube. First, whoever made it uses a picture of Governor Huckabee before he lost weight, which is stupid. Second, I think the blue-screen stuff is silly; his words speak for themselves.

So listen to the words. What they say is this: Evangelicals should vote for me because I'm one of them, because I'm a member of the right group. That is bad logic -- according to it, we should have supported evangelical Jimmy Carter over non-churchgoing divorcee Ronald Reagan in 1980. But even more importantly, it is destructive logic, because it invites our country to divide along religious lines.

Based on these words -- and I've heard him say similar ones elsewhere -- this man is willing to discard the core American principle of E Pluribus Unum purely because it doesn't serve his political interests. That is just not acceptable, and it's not behavior that conservative evangelicals should reward with their votes.
