...from some very thoughtful Mormons on yesterday's post "FROM ANOTHER PRO-LIFE CONVERT." In the aggregate, here is my read:

1. As I wrote, the LDS church does not teach that life begins at conception.
2. The LDS church does teach that abortion is a "grievous sin." Some seem to think that I suggested otherwise. I did not intend to.
3. The sin teaching does not mean the LDS church teaches that abortion should be illegal. In fact, the church is very careful to avoid political controversies. (As an example, Mormons are told not to drink coffee, but it is not a church teaching that coffee should be illegal.)
