In a lengthy interview, she also talked about resistance among some voters to the presidential candidacy of her husband because he is a Mormon. She converted to the Mormon faith when they were dating. In a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll in February, one in four Americans said they wouldn't vote for a "well-qualified person" who happened to be Mormon.

"Once they know somebody, it's amazing how it dissolves, and that's what we have found all around," Ann Romney said. "They say, 'I won't vote for a Mormon -- but, oh, I'll vote for that one'" once they get to know a candidate.
