FIBS IN FLORIDA

From Laird and Diane:

I can't believe what I heard from John McCain yesterday at the University of Tampa. I remember back in Iowa and New Hampshire that John McCain and Mike Huckabee criticized Mitt Romney of negative advertising with respect to their political records. Well, yesterday McCain said Romney raised taxes in his state by $700 million, his Massachussetts health care plan is $300 million in the red and to top off these wrongly quoted statements of Romney's record he said Romney wants to pull us out of Iraq immediately and so his withdrawal plan is nothing more than Hillary Clinton's withdrawal plan. It amazes all of us who have researched and know Romney's record on these issues that some candidates will do and say whatever they will just to get elected. Honesty and integrity with elections seem to be a thing of the past!

According to the Associated Press, that's exactly what Senator McCain said. The campaign is -- aptly -- calling this a "stunningly dishonest statement." Unfortunately, attacks like this on fellow Republicans are nothing new from Senator McCain, who -- for instance -- screamed obscenities at Senator John Cornyn (R-Tex.) just a few months ago, when Senator Cornyn disagreed with the McCain-Kennedy immigration plan.
