DISPIRITED REPUBLICANS SEEK GALVINIZING CANDIDATE

When I got to church this morning, several people came up to me and said, "I saw your name on the front page of the Tennessean this morning."

I'd given an interview to a reporter who was doing a story on Tennessee Republicans. Here's my money quote, about John McCain:

"He's grumpy, bitter and he can barely contain his disdain for social conservatives," French said. "He's been in Washington 30 million years and the only things he's known for are all these really bad ideas (like campaign finance reform). He'd rather reach across the aisle and stick it to the base in the process."

(I was thankful the reporter didn't use my more colorful quotes... seriously!) Read the whole thing here. EFM gets a plug as well.
