ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
First Senator Clinton:
New military tactics in Iraq are working but the best way to honor soldiers is "by beginning to bring them home," Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton told a veterans group Monday.
Now Senator Levin:
Declaring the government of Iraq "non-functional," the influential chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee said yesterday that Iraq's parliament should oust Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and his cabinet if they are unable to forge a political compromise with rival factions in a matter of days."I hope the parliament will vote the Maliki government out of office and will have the wisdom to replace it with a less sectarian and more unifying prime minister and government," Sen. Carl M. Levin (D-Mich.) said after a three-day trip to Iraq and Jordan.
I can't think of a more insulting (to our troops and the Iraqis) array of policy proposals than these. The troops are winning, so let's bring them home, and as for the Iraqis, let's have a Washington politician dictate the rise and fall of their government? I don't think so! Thankfully these geniuses weren't around when the Union Army wasn't doing so well in the Civil War, or when we were in the process of getting all our "factions" (the appropriate analogy here would seem to be racial groups) proper political rights, which you may recall took much more than four years--because they'd have given up!
We need to make sure the adults are running the show in 2009, friends.
